Job Description
The Galvin Middle School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the Math Interventionst for the upcoming school year beginning on August 28, 2023. The Math Interventionist will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families and staff.
The Galvin Middle School is an inclusive community for all students and staff and serves over 700 students in grades 6-8. The Galvin Middle School is elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a school culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social emotional learning for every student, and ensures high quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.

JOB SUMMARY
The Math Interventionst will be responsible for supporting students in gaining self-confidence by practicing perseverance, as well as teaching students how to advocate for themselves in their regular math classes. The Math Interventionist will support students in grade-level standards, reteach critical concetps and skills, and fill exisiting gaps in learning. The goal of the Math Interventionst is to support all students in becoming more resourceful and more confident in their learning of mathematics.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to) :
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Prepare the classroom for class activities
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Use relevant technology to support instruction
Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
Provide appropriate feedback on work
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
Prepare required reports on students and activities
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff and visitors
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
Working knowledge of relevant technologies: internet and email systems; word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software; and educational software
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Math Department Coordinator
WORK YEAR: 183 days
COMPENSATION: Competitive salary with comparable districts
