Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College strives to prepare students for the challenges of the ever-changing global community. Non-Tenure Full-Time Instructor and Program Coordinator to oversee program while supporting adjunct instructors, students, and department for the Spring 2023 semester.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General departmental responsibilities:
Teach courses in varied modalities, times, and locations to support institutional needs.
Assist in maintenance and development of disciplinary curricula.
Commitment to the principles of a learning centered institution.
Develop a syllabus for each course taught using College and departmental guidelines.
Demonstrate a commitment to teaching effectiveness and on-going pedagogical professional development, including utilizing innovative technologies as well as skills for teaching in remote modalities.
Demonstrate on-going professional development within the discipline.
Demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student body and college community.
Assist with departmental strategic planning and outcomes assessment.
Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them, in a timely manner, of their progress.
Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
Work to maintain professional relationships with students and members of the college community.
Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary department which includes serving on college-wide committees that require departmental representation.
Participate in student advising.
Adhere to College policies and procedures.
Other department duties as assigned.
Program Coordination and Discipline specific responsibilities:
Prep and teach four courses: Introduction to Social Work (HMNS 102), Human Behavior & the Social Environment (HMNS 201), Interviewing & Counseling Skills (HMNS 205), and Poverty & Society (HMNS 109).
Meet with students as needed re: summer/fall course registration and summer field placement assistance.
Support adjunct instructors as needed.
Complete course assessment for four spring courses.
Secure new field placements in coordination with Director of Careers and Experiential Learning.
Represent discipline at Open Houses and Career Fairs.
Collaborate with Resource Center leadership for spring semester Voices of Poverty event.
Requirements:
Master's degree in social work.
Clinical/direct practice experience.
Familiarity with College Orientation curriculum and purpose.
Familiarity with core social work curriculum and field requirements.
Knowledge of the sociology of poverty.
Morning, afternoon, and evening availability to meet spring scheduling needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified LSW or LCSW.
Prior Community College teaching experience.
Online and/or Hybrid teaching experience.

Immediate availability required to review coordination responsibilities and prepare for 4 preps before current program coordinator leaves for the semester to ensure program continuity.
