Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE:

Staff Associate, Outside Placement Coordinator/Clinical Instructor SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Director - WSU Speech-Language-Hearing Center (SLHC)/ Dean - School of Science, Technology and Health

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Liaisons to off-site partner settings, as well as undergraduate and graduate students in the WSU SLHC and in off-site partner settings.

General Statement of Duties:

This staff associate is responsible for coordinating off campus practicum and supporting the Worcester State University Speech-Language-Hearing Center (WSU SLHC) and the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Department. This individual works with the SLHC clinical team, CSD professionals, professionals both within the WSU community and in off-site partner settings, undergraduate and graduate students, and clients and their caregivers.

Responsibilities:

(E) = Essential

Scheduling:

(E) Works closely with the Director of the WSU SLHC and is responsible for scheduling off-campus clinical education of graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.

(E) Works closely with the Director of the WSU SLHC and is responsible for scheduling WSU liaisons (both clinical instructors and faculty with clinic responsibilities) to outside placements.

Coordinating:

(E) Establishes new affiliations in the community, including in-person, telephone and electronic communication

(E) Coordinates and reviews affiliation agreements between WSU and off-campus partners. Interfaces with Nursing and OT Fieldwork Coordinators and Provost.

(E) Serves as a liaison to public and private health-related and education agencies.

(E) Completes onboarding of off-campus practicum students, including but not limited to immunizations and trainings (National Background Checks, CORIs, fingerprinting, drug screenings, when needed, CPR, HIPAA etc.)

(E) Prepares documentation for outside placements (beginning and end of the semester)

(E) Distributes and oversees the review and analysis of supervision surveys completed by students in the field. Initiates plans of rectification, when necessary.

(E) Oversees the calculation and preparation of Professional Development Point certificates for cooperating practitioners.

Supervising:

(E) Supervises and evaluates graduate students in on-campus practicum experiences.

(E) Provides direct service to clients needing treatment when students are unavailable.

(E) Serves as liaison for graduate students in off-campus practicum experiences.

(E) Serves as contact for WSU liaisons to off-campus partner settings and works closely with Director of WSU SLHC in their evaluation.

(E) Finalizes off-campus students' semester clock hours, ensuring compliance with ASHA certification requirements and CAA standards.

Collaborating:

(E) Works closely with the Director of the WSU SLHC to facilitate faculty involvement as liaisons in outside placements.

(E) Reviews OP related policies and procedures in Center Manual and coordinates update with Director of the WSU SLHC.

(E) Collaborates with Program Director regarding program implementation.

Other:

(E) Serves on departmental committees which may include Clinic, Graduate, Comprehensive Exams, Admissions, Academic Honesty, etc.

(E) Attends departmental/university events, which may include Graduate Commencement, Welcome Newly Accepted Students, Welcome New Graduate Students, etc.

(E) Completes related duties as assigned by the Center Director and Dean, School of Science, Technology and Health.

(E) Completes all of the above duties while adhering to Council of Academic Accreditation and Certificate of Clinical Competence standards.

(E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.

Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.

Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

License in Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Massachusetts or eligible.

Supervisory eligibility and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Teacher Specialist in Speech-Language-Hearing Disorders or eligible.

At least three years clinical experience in the field of Speech-Language Pathology.

Familiarity with certification (CCC-SLP) and accreditation (CAA) standards.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with relevant professional experience and education.
