Description
The Risk Adjustment Coder ensures coding is accurate and properly supported by clinical documentation within the health record. Follows state and federal regulations as well as internal policies and guidelines while analyzing coding information and medical records. Decisions are regarding the daily priorities for an administrative work group and/or external vendors including coordinating work activities and monitoring progress towards schedules/goals, and often oversees work of others and/or is the primary administrative owner of a main process, program, product or technology. Works within broad guidelines with little oversight.
Responsibilities
Risk Adjustment Coders are responsible for reviewing medical records, completing multiple audits, and special projects. Associates in this role work collaboratively with other departments.
Required Qualifications
AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required; CPC, CPC-A, or CCS
ICD-10 certified
Must maintain annual continuing education requirements and remain in good standing with the certification governing body
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Analytical, organizational, and time management skills
Team building skills
Must be willing to work overtime
Ability to work independently
Ability to maintain industry standard quality
This position is in a Work At Home environment, provided you meet certain requirements: You will be required to work from your own home and no other location. You must have a room in your home in a quiet area that is designated as a home office. That office must have a door with a lock. You must provide your own high speed DSL or a cable modem. Satellite and/or wireless internet connections are NOT permitted. A minimum connection speed for optimal performance of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) internet speed is required.
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Professional demeanor and appearance, strong work ethic, reliable, resourceful, enthusiastic team player, positive attitude
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office systems Word and Excel
Additional information
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The first day the associate will work from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm ET. Associate will meet with trainer and determine the best schedule that works for the associate starting no later than 8:00 am ET
Training: T ypically last up to 3 months and will be conducted virtually thru Webex.
