Description
The Quality Assurance, Clinical Professional 2 consults and collaborates with clinicians to ensure high accountability of compliance and quality. The Quality Assurance, Clinical Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance, Clinical Professional 2 supports and implements programs to establish high quality standards in clinical products and services. Support, develop and operationalize methods to drive program and service consistency. Provide and support training and process management as needed. Requires applicable State licensure in field of study: Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Masters Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW-ACP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or other applicable professional license. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with active license in state of residence
Recent DRG experience (Diagnosis Related Groups)
Medical Coding Certification from AAPC OR AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, CPMA or equivalent)
This position/department provides coverage from 6am - 6pm, Mon-Fri, with flexible shifts to be determined once hired.
Inpatient auditing and coding experience
Knowledge of inpatient coding conventions and standards
Working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
High level of emotional intelligence and strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage work load
Must ensure designated work area is free from distractions during work hours and virtual meetings
Must provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a workspace (Satellite and Hotspots are prohibited). A minimum standard speed of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) for optimal performance of is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive regulatory coding (ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs), POA assignment, and Discharge Disposition codes) and associated reimbursement knowledge.
Must demonstrate working knowledge of clinical indicators, risk factors and treatment protocols used for clinical validation and appropriate code assignments.
Solid understanding of anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, and surgical operations.
Experience with multiple EHR systems
