**Providence is calling a Safety/Environmental Health Manager - Risk Compliance And Safety (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR**
**Shift: 40 hours per week. Will need to flex schedule to support clinics during clinic hours 7 am to 7 pm**

We are seeking a Safety/Environmental Health Manager - Risk Compliance And Safety that will be responsible for implementing programs to ensure an environment that is safe for caregivers, patients and visitors. As a Safety Program Manager, this position collaborate with leadership of the medical group, department core leaders, and caregivers to ensure work place safety and compliance with rules, regulations, and standards related to the applicable regulatory agencies.
**In this position you will have the following responsibilities:**
Coordinate the Environment of Care (EC) program related to Safety, Security, Emergency Preparedness, Medical Equipment, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management, and Life Safety as they directly relate to the ambulatory health care setting and the overall environment of care
Conduct clinic safety surveys; Identify risks to caregiver, patient and environmental safety; interpret regulations; provide consultation
Oversee environmental quality in effort to maintain high standards of safety and regulatory compliance; maintain documentation of findings and improvements
Monitor potential and actual environmental and occupational safety hazards; recommend plans for improvement; report significant findings to PMG leadership
Intervene when conditions immediately threaten life or health, or threaten to damage equipment or property
Monitor for compliance with state and federal regulations related to occupational and environmental health and safety; the American with Disabilities Act, and patient safety as it relates to the clinic environment Liaison with regulatory agencies, provide written reports as needed
Develop and implement education programs and materials to train staff to detect, mitigate and avoid workplace hazards
Provide policy and procedure interpretation and education as it applies to the EC; Develop and update applicable PMG policies
Provide consultation regarding environmental safety for new build and clinic remodel projects
Provide consultation for clinics requiring improvement plans related to environmental safety surveys
Lead clinic safety coordinators; Develop safety committees; Develop annual emergency exercises, safety surveys, and hazardous material inventories for PMG clinics
Review caregiver accidents, injuries, and significant events; characterize caregiver, patient and visitor exposures; consult on accident/adverse incident prevention
Maintain professional competency
**Qualifications:**
**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**
Bachelor's Degree in Science discipline; Environmental Health, Safety, or Health Science focus **-OR-** equivalent educ/experience
Master's Degree
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
Five (5) years of progressive experience in healthcare setting safety program administration/management AND implementation, to include safety, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance functions in a complex environment
Experience in managing some or all of the standards in The Joint Commission Environment of Care chapter in the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH)
Additional experience in Long Term Care, Behavioral Health and/or Ambulatory Care
Experience in management of waste streams generated by ambulatory and non-ambulatory healthcare facilities
