Come join our team!Job Summary:Processes and prepares tissues for microscopic examination and analysis by a Dermatologist in the Mohs Surgery Clinic using a variety of techniques in a laboratory to support health professionals in diagnosing and treating disease and medical disorders. Tissue handling duties may include receiving, accessioning, gross sectioning, processing, embedding, cutting and staining of tissue slides. Duties also include ensuring accurate quality control, preparing documentation, and maintaining the lab and equipment.Incumbents must possess knowledge of the basic pathologic conditions and skills in the use of precision equipment. Attention to detail, knowledge and skill in properly of handling tissue samples, the use of medical terminology, abbreviations and safety hazards common to Histology are essential in the performance of duties.Essential Duties:Receive tissue specimen from surgeon with specific mapping instructions.Performs technical duties necessary to prepare tissues for microscope examination and analysis, which may include receiving, gross sectioning, preparing, and embedding specimens.Completes all required documentation in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner in accordance with CHI-FH standards and procedures.Maintains work area, equipment and temperature charts per established quality standards.Properly handles and disposes of all bio hazardous and chemically hazardous materials in accordance with department procedures.Assists with and/or participates in quality assurance audits.','!*!Education/Experience:Education/experience necessary to meet the requirements for Histotechnician (HT-ASCP) certification by the ASCP American Society for Mohs Histotechnology and which is either:Route 1: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science or chemical, physical or biological science, ORRoute 2: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnician program, ORRoute 3: Licensure or certification in the State of Washington as a Medical Assistant Certified or Registered, LPN or RN. Completion of Mohs Technology Quality Assurance course of the American Society for Mohs Histotechnology.License/Certification:Certification as a Histotechnician HT (ASCP) or Mohs Histotechnician (ASMH) obtained within 90 days of hire into position.','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
