The Strategy Advancement Advisor provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities. Provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segments or the company at large. The Strategy Advancement Advisor works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Humana's Enterprise Clinical Management (ECM) team needs your business, healthcare and research acumen to solve for the healthcare challenges of today. The Clinical Analytics and Trend team uses advanced analytic techniques, and clinical acumen to identify clinical opportunities to improve health outcomes and improve the value of care for our members. In this exciting start-up environment, you'll have the opportunity to support trend investigation processes from the ground up, while working collaboratively with clinicians, data-scientists, actuaries and business owners across Humana.

Humana's ECM organization is seeking a Clinical Trend Research Lead. In this role, you will lead and support initiatives to analyze complex business and clinical issues using our healthcare data, clinical literature and input from subject matter experts. You will lead program and project management to ensure stakeholders are brought together to execute on clinical investigations and enterprise wide initiatives. You will exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and work under minimal supervision, while evaluating variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Responsibilities include:


Support Clinical Strategy, Clinical Product, Employer Group and other key stakeholders to fast-track opportunities that positively impact trend, including activation of the clinical organization and other key operators, to ultimately enable a pipeline of clinical trend benders
Support enterprise wide initiative to address healthcare waste and low value care to ultimately positively impact trend, improve the member experience, and enhance health outcomes
Frequently work with healthcare data, industry insights and peer reviewed literature to generate actionable insights
Summarize insights and findings from literature and analysis to a wide range of audiences using excel and PowerPoint.
Support clinical cohort, disease state and other types of clinical investigations to inform care management and utilization management strategies, including meeting facilitation, note taking and some general project management
Offer input on analytic protocol and research methodology to support cohort and other investigations
Support clinical strategy and clinical vendor assessment, especially as it relates to critical evaluation of relevant peer-reviewed literature and other evidence
Complete literature searches to identify highly relevant clinical literature to areas of trend investigation and guide metric development
Produce high quality presentations and reports, such as trend updates, etc.


Role Essentials


Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, healthcare or any related field
7 years working in healthcare or a related industry
2 years in a role working directly with data and analytics
Excellent literature search and evaluation skills, including familiarity with PubMed and other search engines
Strong business acumen and communication skills
Experience leading complex projects
Project management experience
Excellent presentation skills, developing concepts in PowerPoint and communicating ideas
Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint experience
Strong problem solving skills, flexibility and the ability to work effectively on an inter-disciplinary team
Highly accountable and action oriented


Role Desirables


Master's degree, Public Health or similar
Clinician, Nurse, or pharmacist
Familiarity with healthcare data including coding taxonomies (ICD-10, CPT, DRG etc.) highly desired
Critical literature evaluation experience
Clinical trend experience, clinical coding, healthcare services, health economics or policy research experience
Medical librarian or similar skills
