SUMMARY:
HouseWorks is putting together a COVID team of caregivers to provide non-medical home care services to seniors to enable our clients to continue living comfortably at home through this pandemic. All Caregivers will be provided with required personal protective equipment to keep them and their clients safe as they assists clients with activities of daily living and to maintain the client’s safety and comfort in their residence. Care will be provided in the client’s residence which may include private homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities or other living venues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):
· To conduct services in a positive and professional manner.
· Follow a plan of service as directed by a HouseWorks Supervisor.
· Provide basic personal care including assistance with dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, and ambulation.
· Provide companionship, friendship/friendly conversation, and emotional support.
· Assist with pet care.
· Provide medication assistance.
· Report any changes in the client's physical, emotional, or behavioral state to a HouseWorks Supervisor.
· Perform the following household services as needed:
· Meal preparation
· Light housekeeping for the client including making and changing beds, cleaning and dusting, mopping floors and vacuuming, laundry, and ironing
· Errands including prescription and grocery pick-up and delivery
· Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
· Maintain client and family confidentiality.
· Maintain and provide documentation required by HouseWorks including time sheets and daily narratives.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by a HouseWorks Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Current MA home health aide or nursing assistant certification required.
o Or Successful completion of a 75-hour training program—including 16 hours of supervised practical training-equivalent to the requirements of the federal Medicare Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies at 42 CFR Part 484.36; or
o Successful completion of a 60-hour Homemaker/Personal Care training program equivalent to the standards issued by the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs; or
· LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Ability to read, write and speak English.
· Ability to follow written instructions and document services provided.
· MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
· Basic counting and math skills.
· OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
· Maintain a positive HW presence.
· Refrain from raising a voice, yelling, or using profanity toward anyone.
· Report any type of alleged abuse or neglect.
· PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Physical ability to perform job-related duties which may require standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and walking.
· Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is exposed to COVID-19 positive clients. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment supplied by HouseWorks (i.e. face masks or respirator / gloves/ gowns) at all times.
