This position performs pre-analytical processing of patient samples based on established laboratory procedures and frequently resolves processes not defined by standard practice. In addition, this position communicates pertinent laboratory information to healthcare providers including patient test results or established laboratory practices.','!*!· Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment, ability to work quickly and with accuracy, ability to work independently as well as a member of a team, excellent communication skills, and computer skills.
· Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
· Working knowledge of safety guidelines and basic medical and laboratory terminology is required.
· Working knowledge of at least Biosafety Level 2 protocols is required. Certain laboratory sections may require a working knowledge of Biosafety Level 3 protocols.
· Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeing, moving, lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds.
One year of applicable prior lab experience preferred. Some post secondary science classes or Associate’s Degree preferred.
A working knowledge of specimen collection, and handling requirements preferred.
