Profile

Serves as quality assurance consultant for our specialty homes and completes reviews and assessments for applicants to determine eligibility for regional center services. Is part of a multidisciplinary group to provide clinical review and consultation regarding the living and day program supports for individuals served.  Represents and/or presents expert testimony for the regional center in administrative hearings related to behavior services and eligibility as needed.  Supports service coordinators as they secure quality services for the individuals served by RCOC. Serves as a resource for RCOC staff to identify program and service options for persons served who would benefit from ABA services, including individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Advises management staff on best practice guidelines for the provision and funding of ABA services and provides technical assistance to local clinicians and service providers specializing in ABA services for persons served by RCOC. Participation in the Behavior Modification Review Committee (BMRC), Behavior Services Review Group (BSRG), and Safety Net Resource Group (SNRG).

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Possess a doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited university, college, or professional school.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

Valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology required.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required.

Valid California driver’s license and insured vehicle, or other means of transportation that will permit incumbent to discharge job duties effectively and efficiently, required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Clinical assessment and treatment experience preferred.

Minimum of three to five years experience in human services or educational settings with an emphasis on ASD and other developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Experience in interagency collaboration.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing at the highest professional level with members of management, public groups, RCOC staff, persons served, and their families.

Demonstrate knowledge of ABA and other evidenced-based services for ASD and other intellectual disabilities.

Participate in community building activities, which lead to the development of collaborative efforts between RCOC and other services and supports for people with disabilities.

Present information effectively in a variety of formats and mediums to RCOC staff, constituency groups, and the Board of Directors.

Proficient in the use of a computer and independent production of all correspondence.

Work effectively in fast-paced, accountable environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extensive sitting at work station (80% of time).

Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. moving files and/or charts.

Frequent bending, stooping and stretching to access files, charts, binders, etc.

Adequate manual dexterity and coordination to operate computer, copier, telephone, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Health Resources Group in the coordination and management of the clinical application of the Department of Developmental Services’

Autism Spectrum Disorder Best Practice Guidelines for Screening, Diagnosis, and Assessment

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, assist in determining the eligibility, developmental and behavioral needs of persons served within one’s scope of competence.

Participate in the development and review of program plans for new housing facilities with behavior milieu.

Participate in ongoing quality assurance responsibilities regarding specialty residential facilities, such as, Adult Residential Facility for Persons with Special Health Care Needs-with Behavior Component (ARFPSHN-B), Enhanced Behavior Support Home (EBSH) and Community Crisis Home (CCH).

Corresponds with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in regards to monthly reports and semi-annual reviews conducted by DDS.

Consults on the provision and funding of ABA services for Early Start and Behavioral Services Resource Groups, as needed.

Participate in resource groups, resolution/review committees and community workgroups and task forces, as needed.

Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)/Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Planning Team Meetings, as needed.

Assist in the continued development of best practice guidelines for the provision of ABA services to RCOC persons served.

Provide technical assistance and training to RCOC staff, families, local clinicians and service providers regarding the provision of quality ABA services.

Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art information on evidence-based treatments and interventions for individuals with ASD and other developmental and intellectual disabilities and ensure dissemination of this information to RCOC staff, local clinicians and service providers.

Compile and analyze data to identify trends, program expectations and outcomes related to persons served receiving ABA services

Conduct record reviews and assessments to determine eligibility of applicants for regional center services.

Participate in the preparation and conduct of Fair Hearings, as needed.

In accordance with RCOC policies, implement the highest standard of customer service in all activities.

Act within the scope of authority in a manner consistent with agency guidelines, policies and practices.
