IDD Services Counselor II

(AACOG)

This is a responsible, supervisory position. Duties include the development, planning, coordination and promotion of systemic and collaborative strategies that result in the provision of counseling services and the development of a counseling center for individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or related conditions; Performs advanced complex program development, program coordination, technical assistance, administration work and counseling services; Work involves establishing program goals and objectives, developing schedules, coordinating the planning of program priorities, program development, implementation, evaluating, and reporting of program status at various stages to determine appropriateness of program or compliance with requirements and standards; Improve access to counseling services and increase counseling opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or related conditions; Will serve as a resource in the clinical area of IDDS to support, expand, and enhance access to IDDS services that are provided through other partners and programs focused on the mental health for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Complete and maintain required training, credentialing and licenses; Provide direct face-to-face individualized or family counseling 70% of hours worked; Provide initial and ongoing assessments, provide diagnostic impression, psychoeducation, treatment planning, individual and family counseling, community referrals as necessary, participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, crisis intervention and counseling, discharge planning; Complete required documentation as determined by procedure, participate in supervision and development opportunities, comply with and participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes; Adhere to AACOG’s policies and procedures; Plan, organize and schedule visits to make presentation and provide technical assistance about counseling services for individuals with IDD; Facilitate communication among schools, families, businesses and agencies; Skill in interviewing, in analyzing data, and in the use of a computer and applicable software; Ability to plan, coordinate, report and administer program activities for IDD populations; Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; Devise solutions to problems; Prepare reports; Develop and evaluate policies and procedures; Communicate effectively; Supervise the work of others; Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and AACOG policies; Must be able to be credentialed with all AACOG payers; Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Desired Degree/ Job Experience:

Master’s degree in behavioral health field AND must have and maintain a current license in good standing in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and/or a Licensed Psychologist (LPHD); Must have program development experience and the understanding of payor sources; Two (2) years of full-time work experience in fields of education, vocational rehabilitation, human services programs, or organizations serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Prefer Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish. This position is a Pay Grade 19, with a starting annual salary of $57,054.40. This is an exempt position. Open until Filled.
