Overview
The Haq lab is looking for a Research Technician or Senior Research Technician to work on projects studying resistance to melanoma therapies including targeted and immunotherapy. The successful candidate will conduct experiments involving mammalian cell culture, extracting DNA and RNA, and implementing other molecular biology techniques. The individual will also assist in daily laboratory operations and organization.
Our lab comprises a fun group of investigators who are passionate about their work. A feature of our lab is that current and previous research technicians have led research projects. Thus, there will be supervision and mentoring as well as the potential to independently lead projects as needed. In addition, the research assistant will collaborate with a diverse array of community members at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, including molecular biologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, epidemiologists, genomics specialists, and computational scientists among others to advance and enrich her/his educational experience. There is potential for contributions to be published and presented in several forums.

Responsibilities
Most of your time will be to devoted to conduct and analyze experiments under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator. Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings, including grant preparation and presentations, and look for opportunities to co-author publications. May be expected to participate in formal and information presentations of results to staff.
Additional responsibility include:
Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities.
May be responsible for designing and executing advanced experiments and setting strategy.
May be responsible for the examination of animals and specimens to detect the presence of disease or other problems.
Expected to provide intellectual and interactive commitment to position by keeping up with appropriate literature and research publications.
Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas and may be responsible for ordering of supplies. Collaborates with Purchasing and may be responsible for negotiating with vendors.
Monitors laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as the standard operation procedures specific to each laboratory.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred. A higher level of educational achievement (MSc, PhD) will be considered.
Background in molecular and cellular biology including mammalian cell culture preferred
Mouse experiment experience would be an advantage, but not required
Exceptionally motivated, creative and committed to scientific discovery
Excellent written and oral communication skills
