An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Congenital Cardiac Disease Acute Care PNP with experience in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care is a strong candidate for this new job opportunity to provide intensive and acute care to critically ill or injured children, some of whom are recovering from major surgery, and others with medical conditions that require cardiopulmonary monitoring. Surgical patients include complex congenital heart surgical palliations, heart and lung transplantation, VAD management and ECMO support management. With very special needs, these complex patients require 24 hour intensive care, monitoring, and complex interventions in this fast-paced high intensity work environment. This is a full time rotating position with off-shift responsibilities depending on department needs.
Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease APP
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Patient care
Assess complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions and interventions/treatments.
Provision of care of pediatric patients with diverse surgical and medical cardiovascular ailments in the PCICU and inpatient acute care settings.
Order, perform and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures
Formulate, implement, monitor, and revise plans of care and treatment
Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff
Provide appropriate consultations and follow-up on consults to other providers
Administrative
Participate in scholarly activities including research and education
Participate in professional development activities to maintain required competencies
Act as preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students and other health care providers.
Participate in hospital-wide performance improvement and quality initiatives
Qualifications
Current Pediatric Nurse Practitioner license in the State of NC
Current national Acute Care PNP certification
Current DEA Controlled substance registration
Current BLS and PALS certifications
Experience
At least one year of experience in direct pediatric cardiac intensive patient care
At least one year of clinical pediatric cardiac nurse practitioner experience
PLEASE NOTE: New graduate AC PNPs with extensive PCICU (Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit) RN experience in a dedicated, stand-alone PCICU may be considered for this position.
Education
Completion of a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Master's or doctorate degree program from an accredited school of nursing','!*!Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
