Since 2006, Virginia Mason Medical Center has maintained accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program in partnership with the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. This mark of distinction means that we provide the highest quality of care and best outcomes for weight loss, including evaluation, surgical treatment, and post-operative management. This position establishes the standards and methodologies of medical nutrition therapy for patients and staff and delivers direct patient care.

Bachelor's degree and Registered Dietitian status (RD / RDN) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration
Washington State Certification
Specialty board certifications as needed per area & assignment
Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and behavioral sciences
An understanding of therapeutic nutrition and nutrition support
A working knowledge of safety and sanitation practices for food science
Counseling skills, the ability to negotiate, work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment and strong math skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills
A Master's Degree is preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient and/or bariatric surgery setting preferred
