AARS clinicians support people in our community who are impacted by both substance use and mental health issues, many of whom are affected by the criminal justice system and generational trauma. AARS clinicians are one of the first line of support when community members get released from the jail system and emergency psychiatric services. Key Responsibilities

Provide counseling treatment services at the clinic/agency site, in the community or in-home to our Transitional Age Youth clients (TAY) from ages 16-25

Maintain timely impeccable documentation of services in agency’s Electronic Health Record system (Welligent) using Short-Doyle Medi-cal documentation

Working within a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, peer partners, clinical supervisors, psychiatrists, case managers and intake coordinators

Maintain positive working relationships with outside providers, community-based organizations and our County funders

Utilize evidence based practices and models

Adhere to State, Agency, County requirements relating to processes, documentation, productivity and quality improvement

Under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Supervisor, Clinicians facilitate intakes, comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, case management, group and individual counseling sessions with clients

Attends required trainings and meetings

May be asked to work on a weekend or during after-hours for crisis stabilization, outreach, community education, resource fairs, and special events

Properly documents all services, attempts to contact, and completes the admission/discharge paperwork and process in timely manner

Will participate in Peer Chart/ Utilization Reviews for preparation of program audits.  Will adhere to documentation policies and procedures set forth by Compliance Department

Be responsive and pro-active in all correspondences with referring parties, judges, probation and parole officers, social workers, and the Quality Improvement Dept. via treatment status reports, phone calls, faxes, etc

Will meet regularly with Licensed Clinical Supervisor to review and sign-off on all required documentation

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education Required:

Have extensive experience with substance abuse treatment including certification with a Drug and Alcohol program recognized by DHCS

First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment 

CPR Certified within 30 days of employment

Valid California driver’s license 

Must not be on active parole or probation  

Desired:

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field with a registration with Behavioral Board of Sciences (BBS)     

Knowledge Required:

Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse recovery principles and resources; including Co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment

Experience in working with Transitional Aged Youth populations

Knowledge of cultural stigmas of counseling and treatment services 

Knowledge of principles and techniques of social work, case management, crisis intervention, client centered counseling, and group facilitation

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data

Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility and reliability are imperative

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities. Outstanding ability to follow-through with tasks

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of interdisciplinary team and independently assume responsibility

Strong initiative and enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in whenever needed.

Able to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured priorities

Ability to work at minimum one late day (until 8pm)

Desired:

Verbal and written skills in one of the County’s threshold languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Mandarin/Cantonese, Farsi
