The Core provides administration of the instrumentation and the technical support needed to make use of these instruments through the following; delivering exceptional customer service, educating and providing expert advice to UCSF students, staff, and faculty in cytometry technology and applications; developing new methods and applications; managing all operational aspects of the facility. All of the equipment is complex requiring educational training and experience. \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eThe MLK Core Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will perform a wide variety of standard repetitive laboratory and/or field experimental procedure at full operational or journey level of skill in one field of specialty; or perform a limited variety of non-standard laboratory and/or field experimental procedures requiring ingenuity, resourcefulness and adaptability to special and changing needs of research in one specialized field; or perform a limited variety of repetitive but highly specialized laboratory and/or field experimental procedures. \u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eDuties include general maintenance, QC/QA following documented SOPs, generate new SOPs and protocols if needed, ensure on time setup, and inform users of instrument scheduling issues; ordering supplies and equipment and ensuring proper operation and set up and maintenance of laboratory equipment.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eAttendance at work is of the utmost importance and is directly related to job performance as the broad base of users and team members rely and depend on their timely, predictable, and scheduled support. For researchers who would prefer to have equipment and services run for them, the Core provides a key service known as Operator Assistance. Once properly trained, the SRA II will provide this assistance through excellent customer service as well as advice and education to users requiring them to be scheduled in a consistent and predictable manner.
