Essential Function: Under general supervision from a designated administrator, manage the day-to-day administration of the Counseling Center whose primary function is Training for the field of professional psychology, providing psychological services to students of the University of Cincinnati, and building a supportive community for the well-being of students. We seek candidates who demonstrate a clear interest and commitment to all dimensions of diversity, and whose clinical service, supervision, and outreach are infused with cultural awareness and responsiveness.
This position carries key administrative responsibilities for the department and functions as the back-up administrator to the Director. In the role of Associate Director, this administrator creates position descriptions, makes hiring decisions, and prepares/delivers annual performance reviews to assigned CAPS staff.
This Associate Director uniquely works closely with the Director to provide leadership in setting agency policy, allocating resources, planning for future short/long-term needs, coordinating with campus partners and managing the efficient operation of CAPS and satellite services as a whole. This position will also manage community engagement with student affairs offices and partnerships, including University Health Services, Colleges, and Branch Campuses, with an emphasis on equity and inclusive provision of services. This position will manage technology and systems concerns such as administering the electronic medical records (EMR) program, maintaining a liaison relationship with UC Information Technology (IT), Baseline assessment, website updates, and Online Platforms, such as Therapy Assistance On-line (TAO).
This role serves as the security and privacy officer for CAPS, maintains regular consultation with University Counsel regarding issues of legal concern. All activities are made in strict compliance with Ohio law, FERPA Regulations, HIPAA law, and American Psychological Association (APA) professional ethics. Additionally, this position provides direct counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and outreach/prevention services to UC students.
This position works with the Director and Associate Director of Clinical Services and Assistant Director of Training in developing and implementing policy consistent with institutional need and ethical professional practice.
*Responsible for the overall direction of the Counseling Center *Prepare, submit and administer the departmental annual budget, as well as authorize and approve expenditures, allocation of funds, and hiring process *Provide supervision of the American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Internship Training Program *Develop and maintain strong communication with all CAPS Staff to build a community of equity, inclusion and excellence *Provide clinical supervision for graduate trainees *Interaction with other University personnel to build collaborative efforts in building a Community that intentionally supports the well-being of UC students *Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.) *Perform related duties based on departmental need
Minimum Requirements
*Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology or Doctorate of Psychology from an accredited college or university. *Must be a licensed psychologist in the State of Ohio *Experience must include five (5) years of clinical experience and two (2) years of supervision, with demonstrated evidence of increasing supervisory and administrative responsibilities over time
Preferred Qualifications
*Earned doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program. *Completed APA Accredited internship *Knowledge of the implementation of electronic health record programs *Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
