Hematology Clinical Nurse Consultant Roles & Responsibilities
Each Hematology Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) has a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree and has functioned as a registered nurse (RN) or an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivering direct patient care to Hematology Oncology patients. Through peer to peer engagements, CNCs:
Assess and diagnose the educational needs of HCPs, Patients and Caregivers
Set goals on desired outcomes
Plan and implement educational interventions
Evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions
As Clinical Subject Matter Experts, CNCs identify opportunities to create disease awareness and provide education on the treatment and management of the following: hematology oncology malignancies, autologous HSCT, maintenance post SCT, the immune system, the lymphatic system, oral adherence and safety-related product information related to the current Hematology portfolio and relevant future disease states. CNCs educate HCPs, Patients and Caregivers and Patient Support Groups through in-office and out of office programs. In addition, CNCs train external collaborating or co-promotion partners, internal cross functional colleagues and field-based sales professionals. 1: Support Best in Class Product Launches
Responsibilities:
Pre-Launch
Create Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Myelodysplastic Syndromes, Myelofibrosis and CAR-T awareness through delivery of disease state educational presentations to external customers (nurses, Advanced Practitioners, physicians and other health care providers) in various practice settings
Conduct assessments to validate appropriate patient populations, gather insights and identify customer needs in pre-launch disease areas
Develop CNC content and tools for use with external customers, patients and caregivers
At Launch
Provide clinical support and education to external customers for CAR-T, CC-486, Luspatercept, Enasidenib and Fedratinib dosing, administration, product handling/storage, safety, monitoring and adverse event management education
Conduct Dosing & Administration education and Patient Management support programs within customer accounts
Provide disease state education to patients and caregivers
Ongoing Educational Support
Enhancing clinical acumen and therapeutic knowledge
Deliver education to external customers: in and out of office settings and to Patient Support Groups
Support professional meetings, including staffing exhibits, reporting on scientific sessions, and facilitating interactions with internal partners and key customers
Timely communication and follow-up on commitments and requests
CNCs may address on label questions concerning the safety, dosing, administration and side effect management of newly approved products
2: Develop CNC Clinical Education Plans
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain significant relationships with Nursing leaders and other HCP staff members involved with direct patient care and management to diagnose account educational needs
Navigate diverse account environments to understand the clinical needs and issues of various stakeholders at all levels within the account
Leverage CNC Analytics and insights gathered from customer interactions to construct account level clinical educational plans
Collaborate and regularly communicate with Associate Director-CNC, field-based sales colleagues and District Sales Managers to ensure alignment with national CNC objectives, quarterly priorities and coordinated interactions with customers
3: Evaluate the Effectiveness of CNC Clinical Education Interactions
Responsibilities:
Expand target customer segment reach within assigned geographic footprint to meet launch objectives
Assess impact of customer interactions by incorporating feedback and monitoring completed post program surveys
Actively gain customer insights
Regularly share customer experience and challenges with appropriate colleagues and functions to develop custom solutions as needed
Propel Execution of the Commercial Plan
Responsibilities:
Contribute to building strong project teams and partnerships with Corporate Office based functions, e.g. Marketing, Commercial Operations and Training, that are recognized for expertise, partnership and ability to deliver on strategy and objectives
Develop educational content e.g. slide decks, websites, videos and print materials, based on identified and prior customer needs
Support CNC colleagues to optimize use and delivery of approved content
Develop tools and resources to aid the CNC team in developing education plans, streamlining administrative tasks and leveraging technology to enable high impact interactions
Share gathered insights from the pre-launch customer assessments with Marketing and Operations to identify customer needs and align education opportunities
Provide subject matter expertise to marketing colleagues, train internal cross functional partners and field-based colleagues
Education/Credentials Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Adult Hematology Oncology Clinical experience in hospital or clinic setting: 5 years minimum
Nurse Educator experience within the bio/pharmaceutical industry preferred
Current active nursing license
Experience Required:
Possess expertise within the hematology oncology landscape
Technical depth within priority disease areas; these include AML, Beta Thalassemia, Lymphoma, MDS, MF and MM
Direct patient management experience
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; able to author content; translate and communicate technical/scientific concepts
Exceptional organization and time management skills

Presentation platform skills; ability to present with confidence to groups of all sizes
Demonstrated ability to identify, engage and educate appropriate nursing, APP, HCP, patient and caregiver stakeholders
Demonstrate drive, initiative and willingness to work with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate and apply data to analyze issues and inform decision making
Collaborative abilities; experience leading and or working on cross-functional teams, coordinating internal resources to share information, develop and execute plans
Experience and relationships with health care providers within assigned geography
Travel required and varies by geography. Ability to work nights & weekends as needed. Must possess the ability to operate in compliance with all laws, regulations and policies
