Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Conflict of Interest Review Analyst.

In this role, the Conflict of Interest Analyst (COI Analyst) is responsible for analyzing and facilitating review of conflicts of interest matters for faculty, researchers, and staff. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing actual and potential conflicts of interest arising from research, including human subjects and federal-funded research, and business and financial relationships; monitoring compliance with conflict of interest management plans; using critical thinking, analytical skills, and sound judgment to propose determinations and management strategies when reviewing potential conflicts of interest; drafting management plans; serving as a resource for, and providing guidance to, members of the NYU Langone Health community; answering questions regarding conflicts of interest policies, procedures, practices, and determinations; and assuming other responsibilities as the Director might assign. The COI Analyst also will be involved in system and business process enhancements and provide valuable input for improvements based on community feedback and experience.

Job Responsibilities:

The COI Analyst, under the general direction of the Director, has the following responsibilities:

1. Provide and document timely identification and critical analysis of conflict issues arising

from NYU Langone Health business activities, including clinical and research activities, related

contractual matters, regulatory compliance, and the annual/research disclosures processes.

2. Prepare conflict of interest management plans and related documentation, including monitoring

and evaluation of independent data monitor (IDM) reports, research conflict of interest (RCOI), and

financial conflict of interest (FCOI) forms.

3. Monitor compliance with previously-issued conflict of interest management plans.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of NYU Langone Health’s conflict policies and laws and regulations

related to conflicts and incorporate them into the performance of duties.

5. Provide advice and guidance to NYU Langone Health employees with respect to NYU Langone’s

conflict of interest policies and procedures related to conflict evaluations and management.

6. Facilitate timely employee conflict of interest disclosures as part of the annual reporting

cycle and on an as-needed basis.

7. Assist the Director in assessing and improving the efficiency of conflicts processes and

matters at NYU Langone Health, including on matters related to NYU Langone Health’s COI policies,

procedures, supporting technology(ies), communications, business unit education and training.

8. Routinely monitor and audit areas of identified risk as it relates to conflict of interests and

conflicts of commitment in research and business operations.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:

Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a A Bachelor's Degree in business or healthcare, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field in addition to applicable work experience; Demonstrated experience working in a confidential, time-sensitive, professional environment; Strong analytical and investigative skills required to elicit information and clarify information professionally and diplomatically; Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and exercise discretion; Excellent organizational skills; and the ability to meet competing deadlines; Ability to learn new tasks and effectively execute them; Willingness and flexibility to take on new assignments, while appropriately re-prioritizing tasks; Aptitude to work independently and exercise personal judgment when appropriate; Excellent written/oral communication and proofreading skills; Basic knowledge of research projects and functions, and PHS regulations and guidelines; Basic knowledge of conflict of interest matters; Computer knowledge and skills necessary to accomplish tasks associated with position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business, healthcare, regulatory compliance, law, science, or a related field

At least two years of relevant work experience addressing conflicts of interest and applying regulations for an academic medical center, or the equivalent experience in a related area of healthcare, hospital or research administration

Strong analytical and investigative skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and exercise discretion

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines

Ability to work independently

Excellent written/oral communication and proofreading skills

Basic knowledge of research projects and functions, including PHS regulations and guidelines, and grants management.

Auditing and monitoring experience desired

Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,595.28 - $84,240.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
