Leads the Customer & Market Insights engagement for the Cardiovascular portfolio for US and Global Commercialization organizations:

Purpose/Objective of the job:

This role requires a dynamic team leader who is a trusted advisor to the Commercialization organization and informs decisions grounded in key customer and market insight to create competitive advantage. Must enjoy collaborating in a highly matrixed environment to impact decisions across the franchise portfolio, throughout brand lifecycles, and across Worldwide and US local contexts. Key member of the Customer & Market Insights Leadership team and Business Insights & Analytics Function, who can create an environment of talent vitality, advance innovative insights capabilities, drive integration of analytics capabilities, and bring transparency to stakeholders. The scope of this role aligns to the Cardiovascular therapy area (Eliquis, Factor XIa and pipeline) and provides business partnership to stakeholders in both the US Commercial and Global Marketing organizations, as well as to our alliance partners. Business issues range the full scope of early development asset planning, business development, late stage development / launch asset planning, customer & market understanding, positioning, segmentation, branding & communications, and in-line brand performance management.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

Business Influence & Impact

Lead the Cardiovascular Customer & Market Insights team to guide business decisions through the development and application of appropriate market research tools and techniques, and integrated secondary & other analytics, to proactively shape business strategy and drive effective execution for growth and profitability.

Provide integrated, strategic perspectives and guidance to the business stakeholders in close collaboration with other members of the BI&A therapeutic team across Customer & Market Insights, Forecasting & Analytics, and Competitive Intelligence.

Ensures customer & market insights are effectively and efficiently communicated as strategic consultants to the business, applying consultative story-telling and data visualization techniques. Identifies opportunities and risks, and through the facilitation of discussions with brand teams, translates them into actionable recommendations.

Challenges the business stakeholders to adopt appropriate market research activities that are consistent with driving the business. Restrain the business from sustaining the status quo in favor of innovation and taking appropriate risks when selecting work to be done.

Functional Impact

Appropriately influence and prioritize functional activities, budgets, and resources in line with business needs, creating synergies and eliminating duplication. Constantly re-evaluates the prioritization and focus of activities to ensure value add for driving the business forward; actively looks to eliminate low value activities.

Identifies and leads opportunities for the development and deployment of innovative approaches and techniques in market research that create best practice capabilities as a function. Leads the team when developing customized non-standard research solutions to address complex, multi-faceted tactical and strategic business issues.

Proactively identifies and creates opportunities for efficient sharing and strategic adoption of best practices and learnings across the therapy area and function.

Ensures that past and current research is archived effectively for future use, and that all required standard operating procedures are followed to ensure compliance and the integrity of business process. Is an advocate for speed and agility, and challenges the status quo to drive simplification of process where necessary.

Team Impact

Leads the team in a manner that creates high engagement and facilitates an agile team approach capable of adapting to the dynamic and fast-paced needs of the business.

Consistently develops people through coaching, rewards and recognition, and providing experienced based developmental opportunities across BI&A. Empowers decision-making to the right-level in the team, and provides individuals with on-going feedback and coaching consistent with his/her performance and development needs.

Actively lead and coach the broader Cardiovascular BI&A team members across US, Worldwide and International markets through the virtual WW BI&A therapeutic teams. Develops a sense of team both within Customer & Market Insights and with the broader BI&A organization

Qualifications

BA/BS in relevant functional discipline required. MS/MA, MBA, or other advanced degree in relevant discipline preferred.

10 years relevant work experience in manufacturer and/or service provider/consultant contexts

Pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred; therapeutic category knowledge for relevant job scope strongly desired

Demonstrated success in leading teams and matrixed environments

Mastery in the key functional areas of market research, including design and analysis of primary market research, secondary data analysis and some experience with forecasting/modeling, required

Demonstrates mastery of primary research designs and analysis, and independently develops customized non-standard research solutions to address complex, multi-faceted tactical and strategic business issues

Develops and aligns effectiveness metrics to quantify impact of key strategic initiatives, ranging from market development efforts, customer model initiatives, and business performance

Developed or participated in the development of one or more proprietary research models or techniques, and track record of innovation

Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking ability

Demonstrated ability to lead an engaged team, provide direction and oversight, and motivate others

Proven ability to effectively operate and influence cross-functionally

Consultative, concise and impactful written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work in a face-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage uncertainty, and deliver high quality business results within tight deadlines

Travel in US and Global contexts 10-20% of the time and flexibility to be based in our Lawrenceville, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week, with frequent off-site meetings in NYC and other regional office locations with alliance partners
