The Academic Research Collaboration Team is part of the Worldwide Strategic Collaborations function.

The Academic Research organization focuses on building research collaborations between BMS and US

academic research institutions, balancing the BMS pipeline, medical and data needs with that of our

academic collaborators, driving toward reciprocal value creation.

This position will report to the Group Director, Academic Research Collaborations - WW Strategic

Collaborations. In this role, the Academic Research Collaboration Lead is responsible for the

development and execution of a partnership strategy for assigned US-based academic research accounts

in Oncology (OAR) as well as other therapeutic areas enabling productive scientific relationship

management. The Lead will function as a liaison between assigned academic accounts and the complex

internal stakeholder matrix across functions (e.g. R&D, US/WW Medical, and Commercial).

Responsibilities:

Define and execute, in collaboration with internal & external stakeholders, one aligned strategic

engagement plan for each assigned academic research institution reflecting both a customer

focus and a BMS-enterprise view and one that effectively differentiates the scientific value of

academic collaborations

Establish and sustain a trusted partner relationship with senior most leaders (e.g. site

leadership, thought leaders, scientists, research staff, industry-affairs office personnel, etc.)

Leverage an understanding of academic collaborators, their strategic direction, functionality and

capability to serve as a reliable, trusted and credible thought partner to Medical, R&D, &

Commercial working closely to ensure shared objectives are met while enabling positive and

productive experiences for our Academic collaborators

Work across BMS researchers, asset teams and functional groups (from Discovery, Translational

Medicine, Clinical, Development, Medical, and Commercial) to ensure engagement projects and

activities are complimentary, relevant and strategically aligned

Foster collaborative & mutually productive relationships between BMS & academic leaders in

assigned accounts facilitating collaborative exchange, scientific dialogue, ensuring that BMS is

seen as the most trusted partner of choice

Effective and timely triage of issue resolution across the account(s), including integrating and

facilitating interactions with key internal customer-facing stakeholders and then mobilizing

them to respond to customer needs

Monitor institutional performance leveraging analytics and available tools to identify

opportunities to optimize performance and works collaboratively with the institution on

continuous improvement initiatives

Ensure and monitor the progress of the plan and engage senior leadership on a regular basis to

review and adjust the plan based on research or business needs

Keep BMS functions (R&D, Medical, and Commercial) apprised of major activities, visits, issues,

opportunities, etc. at the sites

Qualifications:

Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD or PharmD) in with experience in Oncology, Hematology orImmunology-related field preferred; other advanced scientific degree with extensive, relevantclinical experience considered

At least 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical clinical development, Medical Affairs orrelevant Commercial experience

Understanding of the US healthcare system and academic institutional settings withdemonstrated ability to navigate and lead through an ambiguous and changing healthcare andbusiness environments

Adept at building credibility with external investigators & collaborative partners,competently balances business and scientific acumen during engagementsanchored by strong leadership behaviors

Strong, proven stakeholder and relationship management skills with senior leaders

In depth knowledge of overall project planning and project management of clinical trials

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analyze issues and opportunities at theinstitution and understand the impact to BMS, with minimal supervision

Proven ability to partner effectively with colleagues across multiple functions and at all levels ofthe enterprise

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills appropriately flexing based on audience;expertly leverages effective communication and negotiation skills to influence decisions

Expected 30% travel within the continental US
