King University is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member to fill the position of Director of Field Education and open-rank professor in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program in the School of Health and Professional Sciences. King University faculty members work collaboratively to provide high quality academic experiences for students in a supportive, Christ-centered environment, with an alliance in student advising with the academic team to ensure that students have the assistance, tools, and resources needed to be successful as they move toward their educational and professional goals. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track position and reports directly to the BSW Program Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a minimum of a MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited college/university and a minimum of 2-years post-MSW degree direct social work practice experience. Preference will be granted to individuals holding an earned doctoral degree, ideally in social work. Applicants should be prepared to focus efforts on developing and maintaining partnerships of field placement agencies regionally, nationally, and internationally. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, competence in the usage of technology, and proficiency in utility of the APA style (latest edition). A commitment to advising and mentoring students and a dedication to continuing professional development are essential. Furthermore, applicants must submit a profession of Christian faith.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-secondary teaching, student supervision, and field education experience is preferred. Preference will be granted to individuals holding an earned doctoral degree, ideally in social work. In addition to those aforementioned, the ideal candidate must have
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the higher education level,
• Experience writing/developing a CSWE self-study for accreditation,
• Working knowledge of the 2015 EPAS,
• Academic administrative experience,
• Knowledge and skills in delivery of trauma-informed care, and
• Committee service
The preferred candidate will also possess excellent verbal, digital communication, and technological skills, including proficiency with the learning management system (Canvas), facility with online communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google apps, etc. Candidate must be well-organized.
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, field placement, and oversight of the field education component, and BSW and/or MSW course instruction of other necessary courses within the social work program.
• Work collaboratively with the MSW Field Education Director in matters related to student success
• Mentor students
• Design courses, as necessary
• Integrate Christian faith with the social work subject matter
• Be willing and able to contribute to the writing of the self-study for reaffirmation of accreditation through the CSWE
• Be engaged in ongoing and new program option development efforts
• Have a working knowledge of the 2015 CSWE EPAS
• Teach and evaluate student learning, service-learning, and field requirements congruent with CSWE competencies
• Teach online and occasionally in face-to-face formats
• Effectively utilize technology as part of both the teaching and administrative functions of this position
• Serve on academic and program committees
• Engage in and co-sponsor the social work club (Social Work Action Group) and honor society (Phi Alpha/Chi Omega)
• Engage on the Social Work Advisory Board
• Demonstrate active scholarly interests in issues of diversity, social justice, and trauma-informed care
• Have the ability to speak to individuals and groups regarding student recruitment efforts
• Assist with updates/maintenance of the social work social media pages, as necessary
• Assist with updates/maintenance of the BSW Student Handbook / Field Education Manual, as necessary
• Successfully maintain and develop relationships with new and existing field agency partners.
• Work closely with the BSW Program Coordinator, the MSW FED, and social work faculty on matters pertaining to field education, accreditation, and general program maintenance
• This position may also require the following:
o Sitting for long periods of time at computer workstation and frequent standing or walking for long periods
o Occasional travel may be required for field placement activities or conference attendance.
o Five-weekly office hours (virtual or face-to-face).
o Occasionally teach one evening per week for a 5-week modular course.
o When teaching respond to student inquires and grade assignments per policy requirements.
o Other time commitments as necessary.
