Job Details:

SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for direct interaction with contract producers, and management company leadership in our Indiana/Ohio grow-finish operations. Daily tasks will include: oversight of all farm herd health needs; maintenance of proper swine herd health and movement verification paperwork; preservation of all veterinary client/patient relationships and veterinary feed directives; and oversight of secure pork supply plans.

Other responsibilities include: Work collaboratively with farm management, operations, and technical services teams to assess health issues and formulate solutions to address those issues; identify process improvement opportunities and lead appropriate teams to improve on farm production management practices, biosecurity, and animal health; conduct animal welfare, health and biosecurity assessments and assist in training farm personnel on proper animal husbandry practices. We are looking for a self-starter that excels in communication, collaboration, and creativity, with the ability to lead people.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: DVM required at initiation of employment. Current veterinary students are encouraged to apply and will be considered.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; may require use of the Tyson Business Computer System.

Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.

Special Skills: R equires veterinary licensure or willingness to obtain licensure in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and South Dakota.

Supervisory: NA

Travel: 6 to 12 Domestic Trips Per Year.
