Contributes to the investigations of fraud waste and our financial recovery. The Payment Integrity Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The Payment Integrity Professional 2/Outpatient Coder contributes to overall cost reduction, by increasing the accuracy of provider contract payments in our payer systems, and by ensuring correct claims payment. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications - What it takes to Succeed
Certified Coding Credentials from AHIMA or AAPC to include RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or CPC
Minimum of 3 years' work experience reading and interpreting claims
Minimum of 3 years' experience in performing outpatient coding quality audits in health insurance and/or hospital settings including emergency room, same day surgery or observation settings or prior experience working outpatient surgery coding-related disputes and trending results
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
Can work independently and determine appropriate course of action
Capacity to maintain confidentiality
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree or higher in Health Information Management (HIM) or related field
Experience in Financial Recovery
Experience in a fast paced, metric driven operational setting
