The

Curry Health Center

invites applications for a

Director of Finance and Operations

to support the operations of Curry Health Center (CHC). This will include day-to-day operations as well as participating in strategy for operational changes. This position will be responsible for CHC’s budget, completing HR processes as directed by department directors and maintaining the facility. The position will act as liaison between Curry and other tenants of the building. The Director of Finance and Operations works with each department director within Curry to determine budgets for their department and evaluates most appropriate funding model for CHC, in consult with the Vice President. This person will also suggest refinements to processes and reporting needs and will implement changes in collaboration with the Management Team. This person will develop and manage financial contracts and memorandums of understanding with other UM departments, purveyors and third-party vendors.

This person will coordinate, with the approval of the Vice Provost, and repair and renovate projects, major equipment purchases, small and large inventory management, and capital projects.

This position is an active member of the CHC Management Team and contributes to the development of CHC’s policies and procedures, marketing plan, and facilities master planning. This person will work closely with each clinic director to inform decision making. They will also ensure that the health clinic operates with the student’s best interests in mind, is compliant with HIPPA, complies with HR guidelines and ensures CHC operates within the framework of their accrediting agency, AAAHC. This position will direct and guide departments in preparation for site visits from AAAHC.

This position will also manage the custodial department and the purchasing agent for CHC departments. The person will supervise student insurance and HIM (medical records). This person will also act as backup for purchasing and in coordination, will serve as the go to for Medicat issues and setup as well as the website.

This position requires incumbent to develop:

Knowledge and management of a medical clinic budget.

A working knowledge of CHC’s Electronic Health Record (Medicat) and other computer interfaces

A working knowledge of the Banner system, Axiom, UMDW, InfoGriz and Grizmart

Ability to evaluate the rate of the health fee on a biennial basis

Ability to determine rate adjustments based on revenue and student enrollment projections

Ability to gather information and generate correspondence related to financial aid reinstatements or medical/hardship withdrawals. This includes, but isn’t limited to, working with students, parents, the Business office and the Registrar’s office

Ability to learn and apply university policies, procedures and an understanding of campus departments and their roles as they apply to Curry Health Center

Ability to function in all aspects of Health Information Management, medical reception, purchasing and student insurance office and to take initiative to back up/assist all positions in the medical records office as needed

Ability to make changes to CHC’s website as needed

Ability to oversee interdepartmental billing with directors

Ability to author negotiate MOU’s for CHC with directors

Ability to maintain credentialing records for professional staff

Ability to conduct new employee onboarding with department supervisors

Ability to manage employee disciplinary issues for direct reports and assist/advise other supervisors

Ability to work with CHC departments to ensure accurate and confidential patient health records (including ICD-10 and CPT coding)

Ability to work with UM’s legal team to ensure HIPAA compliance

Ability to direct the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care survey process

Ability to develop and maintain computer programs associated with electronic health records

Position Details:

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $70,000- $80,000 per year commensurate with qualifications

Required Skills:

Ability to learn enterprise software systems

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse populations, other departments, administrators, faculty, staff, and students

Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software

Ability to learn new software

Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems in a complex and rapidly-changing environment

Ability to effectively monitor, direct and manage a variety of accounts, funds and budgets engaged in a diverse range of financial activity ($5M operation)

Demonstrated ability to analyze data and summarize results in a written report

Ability to provide in depth interpretation of policies, data and financial information by gathering, analyzing, synthesizing and interpreting financial and statistical data

Ability to monitor and manage funds held by CHC in UM Foundation accounts

Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques

Ability to ensure proper treatment of confidential and sensitive information

Minimum Required Experience:

Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or related field and at least four (4) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Health Information Technology or related field

Experience working with Banner or an equivalent enterprise system

Experience in Microsoft Office

Ability to work within a college health system/higher education

Knowledge of human resources practices, policies and procedures

Supervisory experience

Experience working in a health care facility (medical, counseling or dental)

Ability to update web content, as well as the ability to learn new software

Ability to make sound recommendations as needed to increase efficiency and compliance

Human resources management skills
