Self directed. Able to work independantly and assist in the operation of the department to ensure the timely reporting of results in the absence of a technical specialist or manager and resolving issues that may be presented.
Provides assistance to the section manager as needed, taking on a leadership role within the section. Operation of laboratory computer system as it relates to daily laboratory operations. Reporting and communicating results to physicians, medical staff and offices including documentation of critical values as per policy. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities. Promotes teamwork and quality patient care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
BS in Medical Technology or equivalent. ASCP certification with 5 years experience at Greenwich Hospital or 7 years experience at Greenwich Hospital without ASCP certification.
EXPERIENCE
Documented expertise in all departments of job responsibility. Phlebotomy skills preferred.
LICENSURE
ACSP (or equivalent) certification preferred.-
SPECIAL SKILLS
Working in a normal clinical laboratory environment, handling test samples, utilizing the laboratory computer system. Close concentration and attention to detail are required. Must demonstrates service excellence by promoting teamwork and patient quality care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Lifting of medium weight objects. Intense concentration with instruments or procedures for more than half of the day. Works under stressful conditions for most of the day.
