Description
The Assistant General Counsel provides a full range of legal advice and services. The Assistant General Counsel provides strategic advice and guidance to functional team(s). Highly skilled with broad, advanced technical experience.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Primary Care and Home Solutions Legal Team, the Assistant General Counsel, Clinical Operations will support Humana's wholly-owned CenterWell Primary Care and CenterWell Home Health entities, providing strategic legal guidance and working across the enterprise in furtherance of Humana's integrated care delivery strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal support for strategic initiatives involving relationships between multiple CenterWell entities, including CenterWell Primary Care, CenterWell Home Health, and CenterWell Pharmacy, as well as other key internal and external partners.
Advise on legal aspects of CenterWell Primary Care and CenterWell Home Health's relationship with Medicare Advantage Organizations, including Humana.
Oversee contracting matters for CenterWell Primary Care and CenterWell Home Health, including intercompany and third-party agreements.
Provide guidance related to the application of fraud, waste, and abuse laws, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, the Beneficiary Inducement Statute, and the False Claims Act.
Collaborate with other members of the Primary Care and Home Solutions team to support operational, quality, and risk management processes impacting CenterWell Primary Care and CenterWell Home Health.
Partner with business teams, Government Affairs, Regulatory Compliance, and other key stakeholders on policy matters and provide support related to government agency interactions, including inquiries and audits.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited school law school
7 years of legal experience in the health care industry, including direct experience advising a Medicare certified home health agency and/or primary care organization
Active membership in a state bar association
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively in team settings
Ability to work in complex organization with diverse clients at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
