Educates staff on assigned nursing units on new equipment, processes, and policies. Will be visible on the units daily and may require working evenings, nights and weekends to reach all staff. Assists with the onboarding and orientation of new staff as they transition to practice. Great opportunity to impact the practice of nursing by working side by side with staff to reinforce best practice and increase their skills and knowledge to keep pace with technology and nursing practice changes. Expected to maintain clinical competencies.  Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills in applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and Virginia nursing licensure requirements. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, time management skills, organizational skills, training skills, customer service skills, and strong follow up skills. Must be able to think critically, be creative and have the ability to take initiative to improve processes. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be a team player.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing - or any bachelor's degree plus a master's degree in nursing required. 

Experience:  A minimum of 3 years current experience as an RN in an acute care setting (PCU level).

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Other: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Must be able to meet essential job functions.
