In this role, you will have the duties and responsibilities of both the Patient Care Technician (C.N.A) and Monitor Technician including other specific responsibilities outlined below.
Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the RN.
Provide support to nursing and physician staff by performing tasks and procedures that assist in the care and treatment of patients with illnesses and injuries.
Organize, replace, and maintain inventory and supply level in the department.
Support the work of nursing, EKG, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy staff.
Perform phlebotomy, splinting, Point of Care and wound care interventions
Provide on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms and/or vital signs.
Perform Patient Flow Coordinator duties in the Emergency Department

Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C), and must maintain an MA-R credential
EKG certification - must pass an EKG validation test within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter to ensure competency.
Comprehensive working knowledge of, and demonstrated skill in recognizing, abnormal cardiac rhythms.
Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic tests/procedures, and medications.
Ability to work independently and respond appropriately in stressful situations.
Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication, skills.
Proficiency in using personal computer.
Ability to assertively advocate for patient safety, by communicating the urgency of patient hemodynamic instability through monitoring of vital signs and rhythm changes from the monitor screens.
