JOB SUMMARY
A member of Carilion's Cardiovascular Institute, 7 South is a 24 bed telemetry PCU. RNs specialize in the care of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and disease conditions, with emphasis on post operative patients.
Regular Part Time Schedule - 2-12 hour shifts weekly

As part of the health care team, assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
*Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area. *Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based, quality patient care service and performance improvement. *Assists with providing education activities for unit/department.
Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and all members of the health care team to develop, coordinate, and manage the plan of care. Delegates and oversees delivery of patient care. Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient’s status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and provides care according to departmental policies and procedures. May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio-hazardous and hazardous materials, including regulated medical wastes, and combative patients. Work is performed in a patient care environment and is often fast-paced, requiring use of prioritization skills. Physical requirements include: lifting, prolonged periods of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, etc. May be asked to provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
Experience: None.
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Meet essential job functions.OUR VALUES
