JOB SUMMARY

The Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL) at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center has 2 procedure rooms that perform routine, urgent and stat procedures. These procedures include both cardiac and peripheral interventions which could be angioplasty and stent deployment. We also placed pacemakers that include loop recorders. The staffing ratio is as follows, one scrub, circulator and monitor staff member and these can be RNs and/or other allied health professionals. The CCL performs procedures Monday thru Friday 0800 – 1630 mainly with call being 24/7. The plan is to go to 24/7 STEMI coverage in the next 8 months. A Clinical Team Lead oversees the staff and they report directly to the Cardiology Director.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.

Experience: Cath lab experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.

Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Meet essential job functions.
