Responsibilities
The Strategy Advancement Lead provides data-backed strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities related to the high-needs MA and SNP populations that benefit from Humana's Care Management services. This role will focus on opportunities to improve member health outcomes, member and care manager experience, clinical quality, Stars program performance and savings to medical costs. The Strategy Advancement Lead works on diverse and complex problems by bringing their own contributions together with other key stakeholders from across the enterprise (clinical, quality, operations, analytics, enterprise Stars team and business) and leading the end-to-end project of strategy development for key priorities.
The Humana Care Management Clinical Outcomes team within Humana's Home Solutions organization is focused on improving clinical outcomes and delivering on business priorities for care management programs. Our team employs a rigorous process to set specific business priorities, identify the greatest sources of value, and lead a multi-disciplinary process to identify discrete opportunities for enhanced clinical outcomes, cost control, quality, and member experience.
In this context, the Strategy Advancement Lead will drive initiatives to analyze complex problems and issues related to care management using data and insight from internal and external sources, with a focus on Stars performance within the set of members served in care management. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret, and produce recommendations and plans. Works closely with associates and executive leaders from across the enterprise to solicit input, guide data-backed problem solving, and make recommendations to advance care management strategy and Stars performance. Ultimately, will work with operational owners to translate strategic recommendations to execution plans for implementation. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks.
The Strategy Advancement Lead will:
Engage in an ambiguous problem solving and strategy setting
Use data and insight from experts to identify the greatest opportunities in clinical outcomes, quality, cost, and experience for members in care management programs
Lead cross-functional teams to define discrete opportunities that are both impactful and achievable
Work directly with cross-functional partners across the enterprise to create the execution model and roadmap to capture prioritized opportunities
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 6 plus years of experience OR Master's level degree with 3 plus years of experience in driving and creating strategy, project leadership, health care industry and either direct people leadership and/or experience leading others by influence
Previous experience in strategy consulting, commercial, business strategy, clinical and operational area and/or related roles
Experience leading cross-functional group of leaders/teams and initiatives
Strong communication skills both verbal and written, with ability to flex to different audiences, including senior leadership
Proven skills influencing others and a track record of success leading through ambiguity
Ability to interpret and leverage data and analytics to improve strategy and make recommendations; ability to complete analysis and modeling of data to drive insights and recommendations for strategy advancement
Proven organization, planning and prioritization skills to collaborate with multiple enterprise departments and stakeholders; ability to execute within deadlines
Passionate about impacting high-needs population health outcomes and social determinates of health
*Ability to work independently to manage projects to achieve objectives
Competency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure or experience with clinical care delivery and interventions and/or care management
Understanding of Medicare Stars Program
Additional information
This role could require occasional travel for meetings several times a year.
For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated, including booster or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
