Health Promotion Specialist
This position will be responsible for coordinating, evaluating and maintaining a variety of prevention programs and activities on the campus. The primary focus of the position will be stress and resiliency, mental health and wellbeing, health lifestyle, substance misuse prevention. This position may supervise student employees. Candidate should have the ability to supervise, motivate, educate, and energize student employees.
Responsibilities include:
Assess student health needs through a variety of surveys, assessments and evaluation tools, and then effectively communicate the information to stakeholders within Curry and around the campus.
Prepare, implement and manage health and wellness programs using current theories and practices specific to the college population. Use current research to develop programs and services to address student health priorities
Evaluate and assess programs and services offered by Curry Health Center Wellness.
Assist Curry department directors with Evaluation projects.
Assist the Director of Wellness with the overall operations of the Wellness department. Including the training and supervision of the peer educators & student employees. Provide oversight of programming and outreach efforts.
Create strategic campus collaborations to foster a campus culture of well-being. Act as a resource for health education and health promotion information for students and staff.
Post Training Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience working in a health promotion programs with students on a college campus
Skill in bringing diverse groups of campus partners and stakeholders to work toward a campus culture of wellbeing
Ability to move strategic action items forward with campus partners to accomplish common goals.
Utilize strong interpersonal skills to foster and maintain strategic relationships across campus.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, health promotion, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of a Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Experience in developing strategic goals and measurable outcomes for health promotion programs and services.
Experience in data collection, analysis, application and assessment
Experience in grant writing.
Considerable knowledge about specific health issues including primary and secondary prevention.
Advanced computer skills with a variety of software applications.
Demonstrated communication skills that contribute to successful collaborations with relevant stakeholders.
Ability to create original educational materials and programs appropriate for diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. or MPH
CHES
Health Coaching experience
