Under the direction of the Associate Director, Operations and Medication Safety, assume responsibility for all administrative and operational aspects of the Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

1. 1. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Act as a liaison between the program, its students, and the Department of Pharmacy Services.
2. 2. Recruit program candidates as necessary to ensure adequate enrollment. Market the YNHH Pharmacy Technician Training Program to appropriate audiences.
3. 3. Organize and conduct interviews for applicants to the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Administer and coordinate all aspects of the interview process, including but not limited to: scheduling, baseline competency assessments, interview evaluations, and communication with applicants.
4. 4. Develop, maintain, and enforce necessary policies and procedures related to the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. This includes, but is not limited to, the policies related to time and attendance. Ensure collection of program tuition by determined due dates.
5. 5. Develop and maintain educational materials and content for the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Work with content area experts in the Department of Pharmacy to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
6. 6. Serve as the primary instructor and facilitator for the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Administer required assessments and evaluations of students. Ensure successful progress of students through the Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
7. 7. Coordinate program student schedules, including didactic, simulation, and experiential components.
8. 8. Supervise students enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Act as a mentor and a liaison between the student and the Department of Pharmacy Services.
9. 9. Assist students of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program with securing post-graduation job placement. Work with the YNHH Department of Pharmacy Services as appropriate.
10. 10. Organize and conduct meetings of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program Advisory Committee on a regular basis, but at least as often as determined by ASHP accreditation requirements and the needs of the department.
11. 11. Obtain and maintain accreditation of the YNHH Pharmacy Technician Training Program by applicable accrediting bodies, including the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). This includes maintenance of all records and documents necessary for accreditation.
12. 12. Work with the appropriate hospital and health-system committee members to ensure continuous quality improvement of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Administer and collect student evaluations of the program and instructors on a regular basis, but at least as often as determined by ASHP accreditation and the needs of the department.
13. 13. Manage and maintain physical location of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Work with appropriate departments to ensure a dedicated teaching and facilitating space.
14. 14. Maintain records of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program, including, but not limited to, historical data related to program applicants, graduation rates, post-graduate job placement, and contact information.
15. 15. Staff, at a minimum, one shift per two week period in one of the following areas (10% staffing): Pharmacy Operations at SRC or YSC, Sterile Compounding at SRC or YSC.
16. 16. Effectively demonstrate the principles and conduct consistent with a High Reliability Organization.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
High-school diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelors in related field strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE
Three - 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting, with strong working knowledge of pharmacy operations is required
LICENSURE
Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Connecticut plus Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
SPECIAL SKILLS
This individual must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills, Understanding of budgets and finance strongly preferred
