JOB SUMMARY
This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA.
This position will servesas clinical educator, facilitator, and coach for Carilion Clinic Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatry. Collaborates with the Director and Education Consultant in activities related to orientation, continuing education and program development. Will maintain a high level of quality and adherence to department standards including practice standards, training and project implementation activities. Serves as a clinical and technical liaison for Psychiatry Based Services. Performs the duties of a Registered Nurse as needed to provide professional and quality care to patients of all ages. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient's status. Assumes responsibilities as delegated by the Director.
Assigns and reviews work of others as delegated by director. Provides guidance, direction and maintenance of workflow. Has authority to formally coach employees who are in orientation moving high level issues to the Director. Does not have authority to reprimand. Oversees the Psychiatry orientation program keeping the Director apprised of high level issues. Often presents in front of groups of varying sizes, on various topics, and with varying lead time for preparation. May provide guidance to volunteers, students, or support staff. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and be available. Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and all members of the health care team to develop, coordinate, and manage the plan of care. Delegates and oversees delivery of patient care. Position is deemed emergency personnel during extreme and emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation to other Carilion work sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree required with Master's degree preferred. Graduate of school of professional nursing.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatry. Must have Adult and Child Adolescent Psychiatry experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. De-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward. Must be able to obtain AHA BLS-HCP.
OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Effective interpersonal communication (written and verbal), organizational and teamwork skills required. Monthly report to the Director is concise and representative of work. Presentations are organized, well scripted and meet customer needs. Works with a high level of independence making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions. Ability to utilize various computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Access).
