As the performance analysis lead for clinical, you develop and deliver data-driven insights on global and regional trial operations for BMS's innovative pipeline. You are the strategic lead for BMS benchmarking efforts for clinical operations, representing BMS at industry consortia and driving annual benchmarking processes. A key part of your role is to partner closely with clinical operations and planning teams to identify key business questions and hypotheses, run analytic projects, and deliver actionable insights. You develop and deliver metrics and benchmarks that measure and predict performance across all trial intervals and you facilitate quarterly review of these important metrics. You evaluate and identify opportunities for continuous improvement based on comparative assessments with industry benchmarks & internal targets. Your analyses, insights and recommendations contribute to even more effective trial operations and pipeline health.
You will partner with other performance analysis leads to create an integrated assessment of clinical trial planning & delivery and characterize its impact on advancing the BMS pipeline to deliver new treatments to patients in need. Key Responsibilities and Major Duties
Analyze clinical trial operational performance, with a focus on global and regional trial and site management activities, evaluating performance relative to industry peers and targets across factors that include speed, execution, efficiency, productivity
Deliver data-driven insights and develop key performance indicators that will predict timeline or execution risk
Proactively network and liaise with cross functional business stakeholders to identify, contextualize and deliver high value analytics and insights, while ensuring objectivity and consistency across the enterprise
Develop monthly, quarterly analytic reviews and deliver high-value analyses of trial performance according to needs of strategic and operational leaders
Perform diagnostic and descriptive analytics to identify performance trends, root cause assessments and identify areas of continuous improvement
Perform or guide predictive analytics to proactively identify analytical areas of risk and innovative predictive indicators on trial operations and health
Develop and enhance trial key performance indicators (KPIs), including providing regular insights and KPI expertise to clinical operations teams
Partner with advanced reporting to incorporate KPIs into performance monitoring tools
Drive overall annual clinical benchmarking programs and specialty studies, managing budgets, review cycles and timelines, which includes liaising with Center for Medicines Research (CMR), Tufts CSDD, and Metrics Champion Consortium (MCC) teams, seeking new benchmarks or new uses for existing benchmarks, and coordinating internal benchmark forum and activities
Participate in relevant strategic initiatives and process improvement initiatives to bring an explicit performance measurement framework to business process management
Position requirements:
Advanced degree in scientific (MS, PharmD, PhD) or technical field (engineering, statistics, mathematics)
7 years' experience in the pharmaceutical, CRO or healthcare industry
Experience in global or regional clinical operations or related functions is preferred
Demonstrated ability to use data, KPIs, and analytics to drive decisions and answer key business questions
Deep understanding of clinical operations at global and regional levels
Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate and draw insights on performance metrics, identifying impacts on operational health and business processes
Ability to deliver descriptive, diagnostic and related analytics that solve complex questions for business leaders
Understanding of the application of advanced analytics, including predictive analytic modeling approaches related to structured and unstructured data is ideal
Experience delivering in a matrix organization, including articulating value propositions, balancing a complex book of work while making trade-offs and managing demand
Excellence in meeting facilitation and in both written and oral communication
Demonstrated ability to build relationships (both virtual and in person) with executives and peers, including ability to negotiate and manage stakeholder engagement
Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to the changing needs of the organization
Familiarity and direct experience with systems used to manage clinical trials (e.g., CTMS, EDC, site monitoring, document management, planning systems).
Excel (advanced proficiency) & Microsoft Office
Advanced analytic software, methodologies, and scripting languages are a plus: e.g., SAS, R, python, data mining, SQL
Visualization tools/techniques are a plus (Tableau, Spotfire)
