The Coding Educator 2 identifies opportunities to improve provider documentation and creates an education plan tailored to each assigned provider. The Coding Educator 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

The Coding Educator 2 reviews data and reporting and arranges educational sessions with providers aimed at quality of care and documentation improvements. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Make decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Responsible for educating provider groups on importance of Medicare Risk Adjustment

Educate provider groups on proper documentation and coding to highest level of specificity

Drive educational conversations based on analytics

Required

AHIMA or AAPC CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certification required

Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills

2 years of medical coding experience

Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to problem solve complex issues

Medical record review knowledge

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred

Certified Risk Coder (CRC)

Medicare Risk Adjustment experience

Bachelor's degree

Additional Information

Possible 25% travel within in the state of MS to provider sites once travel restrictions are lifted.
