Nursing Director will oversee Medical Surgical, and Float Pool Departments. 4 Departments, and four Managers.
The Director of Inpatient Nursing Services supports the Clinical Nurse Executive by providing effective leadership and oversight of day-to-day clinical operations through; development and maintenance of a mechanism to evaluate and improve the quality of care; improvement of patient and customer satisfaction; provision of a climate of collaboration between staff and other disciplines; staff participation in developing patient care policies/procedures/practices, and support of ongoing professional staff development. The Director of Inpatient Nursing Services provides leadership to nurse management that reinforces their support, creates ownership of goals, and encourages active participation in decisions that impact the hospital and the clinical operations of inpatient care. The Director assists in maintaining an environment which supports effective nursing care, and collaborates with other health professionals in the planning and management of care and quality improvement.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
– Creates an environment for nursing staff that encourages participation in decisions that impact patient care and the organization, draws/holds support and inspires ownership of goals to support the strategic direction for Nursing Services
– Oversees staff providing direction and guidance, and administering management functions within the provisions of MultiCare policies and standards and federal, state and local regulations
– Maintains regulatory compliance and quality accreditations
Partners with physicians who use, or will use the hospital to improve the quality of
services and to resolve identified problems
– Creates an environment that encourages recruitment and retention of employees
– Ensures nurse leaders manage/ control costs and establish efficient processes for stewardship of financial and human resources
– Establishes and supports standards for nursing practice in accordance with best practices developed from nursing research; makes recommendations from recognized national practice organizations
– Analyzes, plans, promotes, and conducts organization-wide performance improvement initiatives using benchmarks, trends and data to guide efficient use of resources
– Represents nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary, participates with department leaders in designing and providing patient care and services
– Supports a shared governance model for provision of patient care throughout the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of patient care
Knowledge of health care regulations (TJC and DOH standards)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
– Master’s degree in Nursing required
– Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
– Eight (8) years clinical experience and mastery of professional or technical role/function
– Five (5) years progressive experience in nursing leadership

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or obtained within three years from the initial date of hire. Advanced Degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP) preferred
