SUMMARY

Bering Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified EMT-Paramedic Lead for the Special Warfare Training Wing/Human Performance Support Group – Medical Support Services in San Antonio, TX. The EMT-P Lead

provides basic emergency medical care for special warfare trainees using basic and advanced equipment.  This position must possess the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and ensure proper coordination of EMS transportation if required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are

not

intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Will apply managerial skills to oversee and coordinate the schedules of all paramedics.

Functions as liaison between privileged providers/preceptor and paramedics to disseminate communication, coordinates medical coverage of training and high risk events, and ensure any required documentation is completed accordingly.

Act as focal point to liaise with respective, government supervisor, COR and Contractor Management hiring company for administrative actions to include coverage, schedules management, personnel training requirements, while coordinating with other paramedics (when necessary).

Keep accurate records of all injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases. In the course of normal operations, provide relevant information to SW medical staff to support the students' medical needs.

Keep the respective HPSG, SWTS, SW Prep PM and SW Prep leadership informed of medical preceptor on a daily basis, and more frequently as situations dictate, of all students cared by the Athletic Trainer staff.

Provide a weekly summary report (non-PII) to the respective HPSG, SWTS, SW Prep PM and/or SW Prep leadership on all treatments and activities conducted by the paramedic staff, including all coordination, planning and activities with non-HPSG personnel.

Assess a patient’s condition and determine a course of treatment per local protocol.

Provide morning triage for student(s) incapable to perform in training due to medical and musculoskeletal reasons.

Assigned to student flight for medical monitoring of all high-risk training event modules to provide medical coverage and monitoring that include aquatic and land-based training.

Respond, stabilize and activate Emergency Medical System in response to physical trauma, heat stroke, and near drowning episodes.

Summarize nature of injury and emergency care rendered to the receiving EMS responders.

Inventory, replace, and clean all supplies and equipment after use.

Interface with biotechnology monitoring systems and physiologic thresholds that should prompt medical emergency intervention to preempt injury/trauma.

Work with a multidisciplinary human performance team that includes other medical professionals to ensure the proper care and health monitoring of all students

Coordinate with contracted or military medical director, government supervisor, preceptor and /or lead paramedic on a daily basis for proper medical oversight and direction in accordance with national and state EMT-P and Paramedic guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Paramedic within the past five (5) years

High School Diploma or equivalent

Paramedic / EMT Certification – CAAHEP or CoAEMSP

Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or Texas License

Maintain registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

U.S. citizen

NACI background check

Must be a steady, reliable worker.

Preferred

Prior experience in a military training setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

In cooperation with other staff members, the Paramedic functions as an integral member of the team working with prospective United States Air Force Special Warfare candidates during a preparatory course.

This position requires working indoors, outdoors and in a pool area. Must be able to maintain health in hot and cold conditions with exposure to the elements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Requires managerial skills to oversee and coordinate schedules of all paramedics.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
