The role of a chiropractor is to diagnose and treat patients that have musculoskeletal problems that are related to the bones and spine. The help patients by aligning their vertebrae for a great affect on their nervous system. It also helps them to have better health. Some of the health conditions that chiropractic doctors treat include asthma, headaches, back pain and carpel tunnel syndrome.

Education

If you're trying to become a chiropractor, you will need to go to college. You're not required to get a degree, but it may be needed later on.



Training

Before you can become a chiropractic doctor, you will have to complete 4,200 class hours and clinical training from a program that is accredited. You will study courses like physiology, biochemistry and microbiology, among others. You will be working to obtain a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Licensing

In order to practice as a chiropractor, you will need to get a license. In some states, you will have to have at least a bachelor's degree before you can get a degree as a chiropractic doctor.

Working

When you begin working in the field, you will be assessing patients by looking at their x-rays and postures. After you have given them a diagnosis, you will use light, heat, water and physical therapies as a treatment for the patient.

Compensation

In this industry, you can be making between $107,000 and $175,000 annually, of course there are others that are known to make more. For instance, the top percentage of chiropractic doctors reported making about $220,000 a year.
