Job Description for a Hospital CEO

If you want to run a hospital and be at the top of the managerial position, consider becoming a hospital CEO, also known as a chief executive officer. In this position, you are required to manage the operations of the hospital on a daily basis. You are required to make sure that the level of care that patients are receiving is of great quality and is cost effective for the facility.

Being a chief executive officer, you will have to several characteristics to be a top hospital CEO. Some of these characteristics include a great history in sustaining and building teams of leadership, having a key focus on success factors and great organizational skills.



Requirements

There isn't any standards that have to be met nationally for being a hospital CEO. In most cases, they have a master's degree in the field of business administration. Promotions are given within the facility they work for.

Duties

Being a hospital CEO, you will be required to teach the vision of the hospital to employees and the community. You will offer moral support and promote the mission of the hospital. Guiding the staff through difficult times is also required.

Considerations

In this field, you will be collaborating with senior leaders, like the chief financial officer, chief nursing officer and chief medical officer. You will consult with the board of trustees and medical staff members regarding the development of planned direction and big policies for the facility.

Compensation

The median annual salary for this position is between $116,000 and $247,000.
