One of the main things a dentist must have to be good is manual dexterity and talent. This is what makes them precise and accurate while working in the clinical. Dental work requires precision and the ability to handle sharp equipment within tiny spaces. For instance dentists have to operate inside of small mouths and work on a specialized area of the mouth that is small, such as a part of a gum or small tooth.
Sharp Perceptual Ability
A lot of the dentistry field has to do with reconstructing the appearance of teeth, so sharp perceptual abilities is required to perform these tasks. You will also have to be able to visualize the teeth - the use of perception for interpreting two or three dimension objects accurately is a required skill for good dentists.
Meticulous Attention to Detail
According to the Washington Post, the role of the dentist consists of detecting the beginning signs of health problems during a 6 month exam routines. The dentist must be very meticulous and pay close attention to detail in order to spot these diseases, such as cancer, hormonal changes, bulimia, leukemia, kidney disease and a variety of other problems. A lot of these diseases are known to show their first signs in the mouth.
Interpersonal Skills
Even if the dentists have all of the aforementioned skills, it wouldn't mean a thing without having good interpersonal skills (at least for . They must be able to provide good services and be able to relate to the patient on a personal level. Having good interpersonal skills is important for being a good dentist.
