In order to get into the senior assisted living field, you will have to complete an extensive training program (sometimes these programs are offered within the facility). It is required that you receive hands-on training. You can't be a squeamish person and you must be able to handle delicate and complex situations.
Management and Coordinator Positions
If you will be working as a manager or coordinator within the senior assisted living career. In this area, you will have to deal with a lot of paperwork and insurance when accepting new seniors into the facility or placing them into another hospital or hospice (or even a funeral home). In this field, you will also be required to oversee the staff of the facility.
Therapy Positions
Another senior assisted living career you can partake in is therapy. In order to work in this field, you will have to obtain a degree in therapy. You have the option of choosing between working as a physical therapist, wellness therapist or family therapist. Creative therapists is another position that you can get into.
Daily Care Positions
Another field you may be interested in getting into is daily care. In this area, you will have to help the elderly with daily tasks, such as bathing, eating, cooking, using the restroom and cleaning. Not a lot of people are able to handle this career because of all the work that is involved. In some cases, you will have to change those who are unable to make it to the restroom on their own.
