Education
If you would like to become a drug transcriptionist, you will have to obtain specialized training. Some choose to get a two year degree in the field, while others opt for the one year certificate program in an area related to health care information management.
Certification
As a drug transcriber, you will have the option of choosing between becoming a registered medical transcriptionist or a certified medical transcriber. Both are administered by the ADHI, also known as the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity. You must pass the required exam in order to become certified or registered.

The median hourly salary of drug transcribers is around $14.40.

There are a multitude of places you can work as a drug transciptionist, such as at home or in a hospital, doctor office, lab, medical library or insurance company.
