Responsibilities
As a chief psychologist that works in a mental health home, you will have to oversee a variety of services that are being offered by the psychologists you're working with. You are also required to interact with other medical agencies when more psychological services are needed. In some cases, you may provide consultations for cases that are complex, and evaluation for services that are being provided at the office you work for.
Other Positions
Another place chief psychologists may work includes state government offices. In New Hampshire, you are required that a chief psychologist administers and implements a program that is used all over the state. Working here, you will have responsibility for all policy development and for the evaluation of professional psychologists within the state you are employed in.
Qualifications
It is required that you have a Ph.D. in the field of psychology, or you won't be able to practice. You will also need a license within your state to work as a psychologist. Some organizations require that you have 5 or more years of experience in order for you to work for them.
Salary
The annual salary that you could end up making could be between $85,000 and $115,000.
