In Person Course
Step One: For in person courses, you will need to find a training center that is offering programs for BLS. They must also be authorized by the American Heart Association, or AHA. There is a service that is offered by the AHA on their website that allows you to search for classes in your area. In some instances, there are classes available partially online.
Step Two: Now, you will need to register for the authorized school you have found.
Step Three: Get prepared for the course you'll be taking. If you want to, you can buy a BLS to help you with your studies. You will have a manual that informs you how to operate it. The registration fee of the school may include the cost of the manual.
Step Four: Once you're in, you'll need to complete the course. During your studies, you will learn about how to give CPR to infants, children and adults and how to remove items from the airway using an AED.
Step Five: Now, you will need to complete the written and skills exams and demonstrate the skills that you have learned.
Step Six: Once you have passed all the required tests, you will receive you BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card. This will be used to show that you have successfully completed the certificate course. They expire in two years.
