After making yourself familiar with the medical transcriber field, you can begin learning about the career as a whole. You can begin performing work to learn through experience. You can check around with community groups to see if there are anyone is interested in allowing you to work for them as a medical transcriber for free. In some cases, you may be able to find a mentor who will train you as an apprentice for a short while.
Take a Job with a Health Care Provider or Doctor's Office
Entry level medical transcibers can gain employment at doctor's offices and hospitals. You will be required to transcribe doctor's notes involving patients' medical records. Some facilities may offer on-the-job training.
