Assessment
When working as a medical case manager, you will need to review the cases you are assigned to. You will look over the records of the patient and confer with social workers and physicians in order to obtain complete understanding of the needs of the patient at hand.
Coordination
Once you have determined what the needs of the patient are, you will have to use all resources necessary to serve the requirements of the patient.
Review
In this health care field, you will be required to consistently monitor and review each resource's services to make sure that the progress is taking place effectively and within a reasonable timeframe. This is done throughout the care process of the patient.
Education Requirements
In order to become a medical case manager, you will need to obtain an associate's degree in a medical or health care field. You can also obtain a four year degree to acquire a bachelor's degree, if you preferred.
Compensation
As of 2009, the average annual salary of medical case managers was $62,000. The amount you'll be paid all depends on where you live, who you're employed by, your experience and education level.
