There are a variety of duties that medical office staff will have while working in a health care facility. Some of the tasks they will have to perform includes answering phones, organizing paperwork, verifying insurance, medical transcribing records, billing and coding maintaining the medical supplies and office.
Size
Now, it all depends on the size of the medical office you are working at that will determine how much work will be involved. In some instances, the staff members may have to perform extra tasks, like providing lab testing services, taking vital signs, recording medical histories, which will allow the doctor in the office to have more time to diagnose and treat the conditions of patients.
Considerations
It is important that the members of the medical staff are courteous and good with people. You will have to have good customer service skills and appropriate phone etiquette. Patience is also a virtue when it comes to this position.
